Devizes Corn Exchange

The Makers Exchange is a new craft market in Devizes celebrating outstanding regional makers. Across one vibrant weekend, the historic Corn Exchange will become a marketplace of contemporary craft, bringing together some of the South West’s most skilled designer-makers.

Alongside beautifully presented stands of ceramics, textiles, homewares, and accessories, visitors can experience live demonstrations and take part in creative workshops. This is an opportunity to meet the makers, understand their processes, and see the skill behind each piece.

The Makers Exchange is more than a traditional craft fair. It is a lively event that connects people with high-quality, beautifully made work and the people who create it. Whether you come to learn, to browse or to invest in something special, you will leave inspired.

Friday Evening Event

The Ideas Exchange

Friday 22 May | 6.30–9pm | The Peppermill Hotel

The Makers Exchange begins with a special evening event for artists, makers and creative people.

The Ideas Exchange is an informal gathering featuring a talk and live demonstration from knitwear designer and farmer Katie Allen of Cotmarsh Farm. The evening offers an opportunity to hear from an inspiring regional maker and connect with others working across the creative industries.

Live Demonstrations

Throughout the weekend visitors will be able to see skilled makers at work. Demonstrations offer a rare opportunity to observe traditional and contemporary craft processes up close.

Confirmed demonstrations include:

Marion Wright – Traditional sign-writing and decorative painting

The Guild of Traditional Upholsterers

Wiltshire Guild of Spinners, Weaver and Dyers

Creative Workshops

A series of hands-on workshops will run across the weekend, giving visitors the opportunity to learn new skills directly from practising makers. Workshops are suitable for a range of experience levels and are bookable in advance.

Drop-In Making

Alongside the scheduled workshops, there will be opportunities for visitors to try simple making activities during the weekend. These informal sessions are designed to introduce craft processes and encourage hands-on creativity.

Meet the Makers

The Corn Exchange will be filled with beautifully presented stands from independent designer-makers working across a range of disciplines including ceramics, textiles, wood, jewellery and homewares.

Each piece will be designed and made by the maker, offering visitors the chance to discover distinctive, high-quality work and meet the people behind it.

We are currently inviting applications from highly skilled makers based in the South West.

Music

Live music will add to the atmosphere across the weekend.  We are delighted to welcome Wizzgig to The Makers Exchange.

Information about performers will be announced soon.

Food and Drink

Visitors will be able to enjoy tea, coffee and homemade cakes throughout the weekend.

The café will provide a relaxed space to pause, meet friends and soak up the creative atmosphere.
