Devizes Carnival Parade

Saturday 31st August 2024: Our biggest community event has been happening in Devizes for over 100 years!

Confetti Battle

Saturday 14th September 2024 As far as we know, Devizes is the only town in the world that has a Confetti Battle tradition. No one can remember the first official battle but we know its roots date back to the old Devizes Carnival in 1913, where confetti and rose petals were thrown by the crowd at people in the procession. The tradition evolved into a fully-fledged battle around 1955 when it was started by Jim Jennings. In 2023, the Confetti Battle & Colour Rush (happening the same day) kicked off a Carnival Fortnight of preparations leading up to the Carnival

Winter Festival

Friday 29th November 2024 It was fantastic to see everyone’s wonderful creations for the Lantern Parade, Window Wanderland & Shambles Installation to this year’s theme of ‘Look to the Future’. The Lantern Parade was on Friday 24th November 2023, featuring The Makery Market in the Corn Exchange and the outdoor festive stalls. Travel & Accessiblity Don’t forget the new Wiltshire Connect bus service that runs through the villages towards Pewsey, and towards Marlborough. You can book a ride on the app, or by calling 01225 712900. Use the code WINFEST23 for a free ride during the festival!
